S.A.F.E. Tomorrow: Shelter Purchase & Preparation Campaign
In April 2025, The S.A.F.E. Center lost our emergency shelter in a devastating fire. Since then, survivors have been placed in hotels — a temporary and costly solution that does not provide the safety, stability, or healing they deserve.
We are launching the S.A.F.E. Tomorrow Campaign, a $250,000 effort to purchase and prepare a new emergency shelter. This is not a long-term capital campaign. It is a short-term solution to meet an urgent need and restore safety for survivors.
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to:
-
Make a down payment on a new property
-
Cover closing costs and essential repairs
-
Install fencing and a security system
-
Set up utilities and provide basic maintenance
-
Every gift makes a difference. Here’s how your support can help survivors immediately:
-
$10,000 – Funds new appliances and major repairs
-
$5,000 – Installs security systems
-
$2,500 – Purchases furniture for survivor rooms
-
$1,000 – Helps pay for six months of utilities
-
$500 – Supports essential maintenance and repairs
-
$250 – Provides welcome kits for new residents
-
$100 – Buys bedding and towels for two rooms
With your support, we can move forward. This isn’t about starting over — it’s about moving ahead with purpose. Together, we will reopen a safe, trauma-informed space where survivors can begin to heal and rebuild.
Shelter Campaign FAQ
Didn’t insurance cover the fire?
Insurance helped with some immediate costs, but it is not enough to purchase and prepare a new shelter. This campaign fills that urgent gap.
Are you still providing shelter services now?
Yes. Survivors are being housed in hotels for emergency stays, but hotels are costly and not trauma-informed. We urgently need a permanent, safe, and supportive space.
Is this a long-term capital campaign?
No. This is a short-term campaign with a focused $250,000 goal to purchase and prepare a new shelter quickly.
